Terms & Conditions
Please read our Manuscript Submission Terms and Privacy Policy before submitting your work. Uploading a manuscript allows Crow Atelier Ltd to review it but does not transfer your copyright or guarantee acceptance.
Last updated: 5 November 2026
These terms govern your use of the Crow Atelier website and the submission of manuscripts, artwork, project briefs and enquiries through it.
Please read them before using the website or sending us material.

2. Using this website
By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the website.
You must use the website lawfully and must not:
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems;
introduce viruses or other harmful material;
interfere with the website’s operation or security;
use information from the website for fraudulent or unlawful purposes; or
copy or commercially exploit website content without permission.
This website and its enquiry forms are intended for people aged 18 or over. A parent or legal guardian must contact us on behalf of anyone under 18.
3. Information on this website
We take reasonable care to keep the website accurate and current. However, its content is provided for general information and does not constitute a binding offer, publishing agreement, design agreement or professional advice.
Descriptions of our services explain our general approach. The exact services, fees, timescales, rights and responsibilities for each project will be set out in a personalised proposal and written agreement.
We may amend, remove or update website content at any time.
4. Enquiries and proposals
Submitting an enquiry, manuscript or project brief does not create a contract between you and Crow Atelier.
After reviewing your enquiry, we may:
request additional information;
decline the project;
arrange an initial discussion; or
provide a personalised proposal and cost breakdown.
We are not obliged to accept any manuscript or creative project.
A project will only begin after the relevant parties have accepted a separate written agreement and any required initial payment has been received.
Submitting an enquiry does not place you under any obligation to purchase services.
5. Manuscript submissions
When submitting a manuscript, you confirm that:
you are the author, copyright owner or properly authorised representative;
you have the right to submit the material for our consideration;
the submission does not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights;
you have permission to include any third-party text, images or other material;
you will tell us if any material was generated or substantially created using artificial intelligence; and
the material is not unlawful, defamatory, threatening or deliberately harmful.
You retain ownership of your manuscript and any other material you submit. Copyright protection arises automatically for qualifying original literary and artistic work in the UK. (gov.uk)
By submitting material, you give Crow Atelier limited permission to receive, store, open, review and internally discuss it for the purpose of:
assessing its suitability;
responding to your enquiry;
preparing a proposal; and
administering a project if you later enter into an agreement with us.
Submitting material does not transfer its copyright to Crow Atelier and does not give us permission to publish, sell or commercially exploit it.
We will not publish or use your work commercially without a separate written agreement.
6. Similar ideas and confidentiality
We will treat unpublished manuscripts, briefs and artwork submitted for assessment with reasonable confidentiality and will only share them with people who reasonably need access for that assessment or an agreed project.
Publishing and design businesses may receive different submissions containing similar themes, characters, subjects, titles or ideas. Receiving your submission does not prevent us from considering or working on other projects that contain general similarities, provided we do not copy or misuse your protected work.
If information is particularly sensitive or commercially confidential, please tell us before submitting it so that we can discuss whether a separate confidentiality agreement is appropriate.
7. Keeping copies of submitted work
You must keep your own complete copy of every manuscript, illustration, image or file submitted to us.
We take reasonable care when handling electronic files, but we cannot act as the only storage or backup location for your work.
File retention and deletion are explained in our Privacy Policy.
8. Design and illustration enquiries
When sending artwork, photographs, reference images, logos or other creative material, you confirm that you own it or have permission to provide it to us and use it for the proposed project.
Reference material may be used to communicate your preferred subject, mood or direction. Unless specifically agreed in writing, we will not knowingly reproduce another artist’s protected work or create a direct copy of it.
Copyright ownership, licences, permitted uses, source files, revisions and attribution for commissioned work will be stated in the relevant proposal or service agreement. Paying for creative work does not automatically determine who owns its copyright, so these rights must be recorded clearly in the project agreement. (business.gov.uk)
9. Publishing services
Crow Atelier provides author-funded hybrid publishing services. If we offer to publish your work, your proposal and publishing agreement will explain:
the services included;
the full cost and payment schedule;
editing and approval stages;
illustration and design arrangements;
publication and distribution;
the rights granted to Crow Atelier;
royalties and sales reporting;
complimentary and author copies;
termination and discontinuation; and
any other project-specific conditions.
Payment for publishing services is payment for the work and services described in the agreement. It is not an investment, and publication does not guarantee book sales, income, profit or recovery of the author’s contribution.
10. Fees and payment
Unless stated otherwise in a signed agreement, website information does not constitute a fixed quotation.
Every accepted project will receive a written proposal explaining the price, applicable VAT, payment schedule and included services before the client commits.
No payment is taken merely by completing a website form.
11. Intellectual property belonging to Crow Atelier
Unless otherwise stated, the website and its content—including its wording, branding, logo, illustrations, graphics and layout—belong to Crow Atelier Limited or are used with permission.
You may view the website and print or save pages for your personal reference. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially use its content without our written permission.
“Crow Atelier” and its associated branding must not be used in a way that falsely suggests an association, endorsement or business relationship.
12. Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services.
These links are provided for convenience. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices.
13. Website availability and security
We aim to keep the website available and secure, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may suspend or change all or part of the website for maintenance, security or operational reasons.
You are responsible for protecting your own device, software and internet connection when using the website or downloading material.
14. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for:
death or personal injury caused by negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
any legal rights that cannot be excluded.
Subject to those protections, Crow Atelier is not responsible for loss caused solely by:
reliance on general information presented on the website;
circumstances outside our reasonable control;
a third-party website or service;
failure to keep your own copy of submitted material; or
unauthorised or unlawful use of the website by another person.
Any liability connected with an accepted publishing or design project will be governed by the separate agreement for that project.
These terms do not affect any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.
15. Privacy and cookies
Our collection and use of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Our website may use necessary and optional cookies. Where required, optional cookies will only be used after you make a choice through our cookie banner.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when our website, services or legal obligations change.
The version that applies to your use of the website is the version published at that time. Changes to an existing paid project will be handled under its separate written agreement.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will normally have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these terms. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you retain any right to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
